Painting of faces

Painting of faces

Painting of faces is a series of artwork on paper that captures the essence of individuals in a manner that invites diverse interpretations. In essence, it is a collection of portraits that aims to reveal the innermost self of each subject. With every stroke of the brush, I strive to encapsulate the entirety of a person – their essence, their emotions, and the depth of their character. It is an audacious endeavor, one that may seem unattainable, yet it is through these ambitious attempts that a cascade of images is born, each one inspiring the next. Every time I start working on a new portrait I want to create an artwork of faces.

In these depictions, the faces of the portrayed individuals are deliberately obscured, with only faint traces of their features. This intentional imprecision serves a purpose – it beckons the viewer to participate actively in the artwork, to fill in the gaps with their own emotions and perceptions. I encourage the viewer to imagine the appearance of these individuals, to ponder how they might carry themselves. I want them to experience the various moods and sentiments emanating from the characters in my paintings. Perhaps one of these painting of faces will strike a chord with them, resonating deeply within their own experiences. Maybe they will recognise similarities in the way these individuals hold their hands or position their faces during significant moments. It is a profound experience to have a painting as a companion, one that whispers, “Look, I am akin to you.”
