The black rose is an anomaly in our traditional perception of roses. When we think of this beloved flower, our minds typically conjure images of vibrant reds, regal purples, delicate pinks, or pristine whites. Black simply doesn’t fit the common rose-idea. The rose holds immense symbolism, often gracing occasions of great significance, such as name days, birthdays, weddings, and other momentous celebrations. So, would black roses be an appropriate choice? And do they even exist?
Surprisingly, a black rose emerged within the confines of my painting. Its petals, cloaked in a deep, velvety black, boldly contrast against a golden backdrop. This striking juxtaposition of black and gold evokes a sense of elegance, visual purity, minimalism or modern painting art. In this artistic endeavour, I seek to pay homage to the rose, honouring its extraordinary form and captivating beauty.
The presence of this black rose challenges our preconceived notions, inviting us to explore the unconventional and embrace the unexpected. It defies the norm, captivating our attention and stirring our curiosity. While it may not align with our traditional understanding of roses, it possesses a unique allure that demands appreciation.
Some people want the black rose to always be with them. Traditional black roses are a popular motif in tattoo art. The black rose in my painting can be present in your room. It will always be waiting for you there.
