The portrayal of water in colour serves as a means to capture the mesmerizing visuals that unfold when we gaze upon the water’s surface. Specifically, I am referring to the natural bodies of water, such as lakes, rivers, and the vast sea. Residing in proximity to lakes enveloped by lush forests, I am fortunate to witness a captivating phenomenon. In moments of tranquillity, when the weather remains calm and the wind ceases its gentle whispers, the water mirrors the surrounding trees and coastal vegetation. It is during these instances that I am able to observe the intricate dance of minuscule insects and fish as they grace the water’s surface, leaving their ephemeral imprints upon its glossy facade.
However, the scene undergoes a dramatic transformation when the wind decides to make its presence known. The water relinquishes its lustrous sheen, adopting a wrinkled and lacklustre appearance, while its hue undergoes a metamorphosis. It is as if the water itself possesses a life force, resembling a colossal organism that encompasses all other elements within its embrace. Nature’s water is undeniably beautiful, yet it remains an enigma as to when it reaches its pinnacle of beauty. Perhaps it is when the sun radiates its brilliance, casting the shadows of the coastal trees upon its surface, creating a mesmerizing interplay of light and shade. In the midst of this captivating spectacle, an urge arises within me to immortalize this picturesque scene through the medium of painting.
