Grey color is neither white nor black; it resides in the middle. Grey color is the most fitting color to depict reality. But what does reality mean for a couple? For a man and a woman? In short, it encompasses their lives – both individually and together. It encompasses their relationship. There is nothing more desirable than a genuine connection between two individuals. Relationships fulfill us; they are the vessels through which we share our experiences, give and receive. Relationships are dynamic, fluctuating between positive and negative, and often unique to each couple. How can we visually represent this complexity? In this graphic, I propose using shades of grey color. Grey, being neutral, does not distract the viewer, allowing them to focus on the varying shades and follow the artist’s intended path. The different gradations of grey create an illusion of depth within a two-dimensional image. In this graphic, I aim to portray an ambiguous scenario where a couple is physically close, yet emotionally distant. Isn’t this often the case in life?
