Art the Wall

Artwork on walls
Art the wall concept may seem abstract at first. How can we turn a simple wall into a work of art? Perhaps by repainting it, refreshing it, or adding some decorative elements. These treatments are beneficial for walls, yet we often neglect them, only realising it has been too long since the last update when we notice the accumulation of dust and dirt.
When we finally decide to paint the walls, we are essentially engaging in an act of “art the wall.” As I write this post for an art blog, I will delve deeper into the meaning behind this phrase. It is clear that it refers to the presence of artworks on the walls.
Art on wall
We all desire to have paintings adorning our walls. An empty wall, even if freshly painted, can be unsettling in its lack of decoration. It symbolises emptiness, which can make us feel uneasy when faced with it daily. We feel compelled to fill this blank canvas with something meaningful, whether it be a print in a standard frame or a gift from loved ones.
Wall Clutter vs Art the Wall
As we continue to hang more pictures on our walls, the space becomes crowded and diverse, bordering on chaos. Over time, we become accustomed to the clutter and no longer notice it. However, a desire for change lingers within us, urging us to make decisions and declutter. We understand that even a small change, such as removing a few items, can make a significant difference in transforming our walls into a true work of art.
Transforming a plain wall into a captivating display can be achieved by adorning it with real works of art. The presence of genuine artwork can truly elevate the aesthetic appeal of any space. As I ponder this notion, the question arises – what exactly constitutes real artwork? The answer to this question remains elusive, as the definition of real art is subjective and open to interpretation.
One could argue that real artwork is crafted by a professional artist within the confines of their studio. However, the criteria for identifying a professional artist are not easily defined. The discussion surrounding this topic could go on indefinitely without reaching a definitive conclusion.
It is generally agreed upon that artists who have undergone formal artistic training and dedicate a significant amount of time to their craft are more likely to produce compelling and valuable works of art. The impact of a piece of art created by a professional artist on the ambiance of a room can be profound.
Well known artists make well known paintings
These works may not be available to us due to price. Then the question arises: where does one acquire such a piece of artwork? There are several avenues to explore:
- Purchase from a reputable gallery
- Request a loan or donation from an artist friend
- Explore options within your budget
- Consider works on paper, which can be more affordable and come in a variety of painting and graphic techniques
By being persistent and open-minded in your search, you are bound to discover a piece of art that resonates with you and transforms your space into a work of art in itself. So it remains for me to wish you success in your Art the Wall journey. I myself try to provide objects for those seeking them.
