Hidden lover lurked in the depths of the shadows, blending seamlessly into the background. The male and female figures appeared to be in close proximity, their bodies huddled together as if attempting to occupy the tiniest of spaces. Their silhouettes encapsulated their very essence, their unique personalities. A magnetic force seemed to bind these two celestial beings, an undeniable attraction that could only be described as love. However, the man positioned at the rear sought refuge within the darkness. Only the faint outline of his ebony figure remained visible. Could it be that he yearned to evade the clutches of love? It is not uncommon for us to fear our own emotions. We crave fulfilment, yet are plagued by uncertainty and the looming spectre of failure. The artwork portrays two figures in a striking juxtaposition of pure white and intense black. The contrast is so profound that it cannot be surpassed by any other combination of ink and paper. And yet, this scene instills a glimmer of hope within the viewer. The gentle contours of the figures soften the stark contrast, hinting at the possibility that the hidden lover may eventually emerge from their concealment. In drawings about love, a lot can be said in black and white space even on a small scrap of paper. Picasso had the habit of carving them on pebbles found on the seashore.
