Big leafly finger leaf

A large leafly leaf occupies the entire rectangle of the painting. The image is not large, it is medium in size. The shape of the biological form stretches into this medium frame. This compositional decision gives the impression that the leaf is large. The concept of size is relative, it depends on comparison with something else. In the case of this painting, we can compare the size of the main figure with the size of the space the painting shows. Leafly shape is spread out, and built symmetrically, in vertical and horizontal directions. it is difficult to guess where its stem is, and how it was attached to a tree or other plant. This leaf is independent, perhaps it did not belong to any plant at all, perhaps it is a separate plant? I allow myself a representation far from being correct and from reality. I am exercising my right as a free artist. I pay homage to all leaves through this finger-like, spreading shape stretched on a scaffolding of delicate veins – the wires of life. This image does not exhaust the emotions I feel when I lean over the small-great wonder of nature that is a leaf. That is why other paintings about leaves are created.
